End to Deceitful Pricing

When you go to a store and buy a speaker listed for sale $125, we both know you don't pay $125. Depending on where you live in this country you are actually paying anywhere between $131.25 to $143.75

In other words, the price of the speaker is NOT $125

This 'practice' has been part of this country's shopping routine forever and has been accepted as part of daily life. As someone who worked in marketing for over a decade, this is wonderful. Still, as a customer, this is nothing but a deceitful tactic made solely for the purpose of having is the customer 'think' we're spending X amount when in reality it is X+Y+Z.

In the case of the speaker, it's just Sales Tax. But we've all been there, hiring a service and finding out at the end that besides taxes, there's a dispatch fee or an association fee. And instead of say paying $300 for Service X, you see a bill for $375. That has to end, across all industries and associations.

In most places in the world, this type of practice is nothing more than false advertising and is banned from happening in order to protect the consumer. Because let's face it, the average person is not great at math.

This only hinders budget planning and hurts those at the bottom the most.

I will advance legislation to end this practice and make all advertised pricing FINAL and including of all taxes and fees associated.
